ARES is the
Amateur Radio
Emergency
Service, which
is sponsored
by the ARRL. The
ARES now
consists of
approximately
80,000 licensed
amateurs who
have voluntarily
registered their
qualifications
and equipment
for
communications
duty in the
public service
when disaster
strikes. Every
licensed amateur
is eligible for
membership in
the ARES, you do
not have to be a
member of the
ARRL. The
operational
leadership of
ARES consists of
approximately
2500 local and
district
emergency
coordinators,
along with the
section EC's. At
this time the
DCARC provides a
training net on
Tuesday nights
at 7:00 on the
Forsyth Amateur
Radio Club
repeater at
145.470 with a
PL of 100. For
